IS TANNING SAFE?
If done properly and in a correctly controlled environment, tanning yields smart and safe results. The number one factor that can make tanning unsafe is burning. As long as you listen to the trained professional at Bronze Tanning, tan in moderation and use tanning lotion, then tanning is safe.
WHY SHOULD I USE TANNING PRODUCTS?
| Using a tanning lotion while tanning helps to prevent dry skin and allows more UV light to penetrate the skin. When your skin is dry, 40% of the UV rays are blocked from penetrating your skin so it is like receiving only 40% of the session that you paid for. The healthier your skin, the better-looking, longer lasting tan you will receive.
It is like putting cheap gas in your car instead of expensive gas. You have paid a lot for that car and you want to make sure that it will last as long as possible and run its best. The same can be said for paying for a visit and not using a lotion. It will not last as long or look as good and you will not be getting your money’s worth if you do not use tanning products each time. |
WHY DOES MY TAN FADE?
A tan is on the top layer of skin called the epidermis. Each time you take a shower or bath you lose some of this epidermis from exfoliation. Then, every 28 days, the top layer of skin is replaced by all new cells. Tanning indoors is no different from tanning outdoors. When you go to Florida in the winter and then come home to a few days of no sunlight, you will see your color fading. This is because you are shedding your skin and not tanning the new skin cells. However, if you continue tanning at a salon, the color will stay with you as you tan the new skin cells.
DO I HAVE TO WEAR EYEWEAR WHILE TANNING?
Bronze Tanning requires that all tanners wear FDA-approved eyewear while tanning. This is because the skin around your eyes is the thinnest skin on your body, thus the UV light can easily penetrate that skin and reach your eyes. If protective eyewear is not worn during repeated tanning sessions, UV light may cause long-term damage to eyes.
CAN I WEAR CONTACTS WHILE TANNING?
Contacts can be worn while tanning as long as you also use the required FDA-approved eyewear. However, if you prefer not to wear your contact we do have contact solution available in the bathroom and vanity area.
